LOS ANGELES, Calif. --

Horror fans should keep one eye open for more “Paranormal Activity.”

Paramount Pictures is considering a sequel to the low-budget horror film, which recently became the most profitable movie of all time.

“Our team will come up with the right creative and marketing approach to make sure that we benefit from a sequel,” Philippe Dauman, CEO of Paramount parent company Viacom, told reporters on an earnings call, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

“Paranormal Activity” caught fire among audiences thanks to a slow roll-out and word of mouth that included a partnership with Eventful.com and online buzz – circumstances that will be difficult to replicate with a sequel and its accompanying box office expectations.

However, Dauman didn’t expect a second movie to duplicate the first’s record-breaking profits, referencing the years between “Paranormal Activity” and its innovative genre predecessor, 1999’s “The Blair Witch Project,” as an example of the difficulty in making a successful low-budget film.
